Hello and welcome to Don't Ask Me, I Just Work Here (Don't Ask, for short). I'd like to do a little introduction before getting down to things, if that's okay with you, and if it isn't, feel free to come back a little later for the first real post.
What I'd like to do here at Don't Ask is to illuminate on some of the issues that I see every day, working at a grocery store. I'd like to make it easier for the customers as well as the employees. I admit that this is a selfish motive, especially since I work at a grocery store myself, and while I do get pretty hot under the collar from time to time I feel that I have a fairly objective way of looking at things. I am also a consumer, and I know that it's not always the customer's fault when things go downhill.
Grocery stores have an unfortunate abundance of employees in the high school age, and anyone with teenagers living under their roof can tell you this is just asking for trouble. But although the customers have to deal with their antics, we (the older employees) also have to work with them, and this puts us in a bad mood, as well. And age doesn't always make the difference--I work with plenty of younger folks who are more mature and better workers than some of the adults.
So, as time progresses, I'm going to explore some of the ways we can make grocery shopping an easier task, from both sides. I hope you'll bear with me as I learn the ups and downs of posting blogs, and if you have anything to say, don't be afraid to say it! I look forward to hearing from all of you.
